What’s it doing in that room in the first place?

I wonder what the bat is for: the cat or the Abraxas?

It’ll take way more than a bat to take down ABRAXAS. I think we found the person to make the Wanke r l a reality. Or, at least a concept drawing. He’s posted some other originals.

This one is supposedly inspired by the Volvo P1800?

Kinja'd!!!

I like the sideways hood scoops.

This next one he describes thusly:

“This is a profile concept rendered with water color pencil and markers on illustration board. saw an exhibit on Brazil martial arts, and the way the fighters moved inspired this idea. Capoeira is somewhat similar to savate’- a form of French martial arts where kicking is used in attacking and blocking.”

Kinja'd!!!

Similar to ABRAXAS, but seems to be more conventionally powered.

Here’s some art he’s done.

Kinja'd!!!

From that short wheelbase, this may be a Beetle based body kit.

I’ve been in Capileira, Spain. Home of the Capoeira. Love that SWB A610. Or is it that US-spec V6GT (that nose!!!)? This one will be epic on a Slalom race.

I think we might need Artrice to do some artwork for our advertisement campaign!

It does look like a U.S. spec Alpine from those front marker lights. Maybe he saw that issue of Motor Trend and that’s what he was copying. He also may have been on to something turning it into a true two-seater.

I’d love to see what kind of environment Artrice would put the Wanke r l in. I like the 80's sci-fi grid room stuff, but I’m also intrigued by the tranquil seaside thing he has going on with the green car.

That two seater would be really tail-happy with all that weight in the back and such a short wheel base. There has been no Widow-maker like this one would be.

Green? That’s Marine / teal! I knew you loved it.

Kinja'd!!!1

Yeah, I think it would drive in a spiral pattern, just spinning and spinning. Maybe you could convert it to FWD. It would make for a very amusing Pontiac Fiero body kit. An Alpiero.

Yes, it is teal. Which I think of as blue-green. Very 90's with a 60's/70's body. Not too practical. I don’t see how you access the cargo area unless that’s a tailgate under the glass.

Kinja'd!!!1

Alpiero! Awesome name. With the enormous amounts of kits on the Fiero there should be a kit already. Did you ever see that Top Gear UK road-trip episode in which Hammond and Clarkson have a “race” in a few of these?

Kinja'd!!!

Pretty sure that Teal thing is a two-seater, lots of luggage space. And lots of Inches for those rear-tires: These were not available this big in the ‘90's unless it was a truck/tractor!

Kinja'd!!!1

Maybe Jobjeisen should offer an Alpiero kit. For people who are stuck with a horrible Ferrari kit like that one. That’s funny. I’m not sure I remember that Top Gear episode for some reason. I’ll have to look for it. It seems like something I should remember. Did they sell Fieros and then Fiero kits over there, or are those American cars?

Maybe there’s a rear bench that folds down. I still don’t know how you’re supposed to access all your luggage. Although the huge wheel wells for those enormous tires are going to cut into that cargo room. How well do you think those high mounted mirrors work?

Kinja'd!!! Jobjoris > Jonee
02/12/2016 at 06:56

Kinja'd!!!1

Maybe we should. I’m not sure if it was in an actual TG episode or on one of their DVD “roadtrips”. Should be easy to find.

We did get the Fiero. And many Fierraris or whatever we should call these. There were some kids on the MR2 as well.

Those high mounted mirrors work alright, remember the one-mirrored Testarossas! This one has so many hidden features. I wonder how that single wiper works. I hope a la Mercedes-Benz’ W124/W201 system.

Kinja'd!!! Jonee > Jobjoris
02/16/2016 at 01:41

Kinja'd!!!1

That’s interesting. I think of Fiero kits as such an American thing. But, they always copy European cars, so I guess it makes sense you’d have it, too.

I love those crazy Testarossa mirrors. This one’s got them even higher. I don’t think that wiper is quite as well thought out as the Germans’. Unless I’m missing something. I don’t think it’s going to do the driver much good at all. Maybe it slides along a track at the bottom of the windshield there as it wipes, though. We may want to steal that for the Wanke r l.

Kinja'd!!! Jobjoris > Jonee
02/16/2016 at 03:45

Kinja'd!!!1

The high position of the flying mirror was related to a European law regarding the external rear view mirror, which was interpreted by the designer as the need of having 100% rearward visibility. As this simply was an incorrect interpretation of that law, Ferrari decided to use double low mirrors, from somewhere in 1986. That was also after many complaints about the single high mirror so I’m not sure if we need to proceed with this feature.

I think we definitely should go for that W124 solution for the windowwiper. It was so awesome.

Kinja'd!!! Jonee > Jobjoris
02/17/2016 at 03:45

Kinja'd!!!1

That’s weird. Why didn’t someone just tell them they were being ridiculous? Maybe we can do double mirrors, high and low, on both sides? I think Ferrari also offered double highs which is maybe where Artrice got his inspiration.

Kinja'd!!!

Why is that robot telling me that the single wiper was a bad idea? It was magnificent. You’d think he would be impressed with such an elegant solution. I guess we can count out the android market if we go that route, but that suits me fine.

Haha Dutch registered Testarossa! That guy is probably just insane. No idea why Pininfarina did this at first. No idea why no legal FIAT/Ferrari dude didn’t notice it. Maybe they did and just let it pass by: it IS a great styling feature if you ask me.

That robot is nuts. The speed is NO factor. It’s not that the fastest speed is any concern, did you ever use the max speed? Never helps. There’s only one reason and ONLY one reason Mercedes doesn’t use it anymore: It’s a costly solution. It’s the best wiper I ever experienced. I told you about my uncles W201: that one had these and with Dutch weather (it can rain heavily) he NEVER complained. He even still talks about it!

Kinja'd!!!1

Yeah, I always thought the high mirror was awesome. No other car had it, so it made you think it was some racecar thing. Plus, that whole car was so outlandish, the mirror fit the package.

That one wiper covered more windshield than any other wipers ever. It was amazing. And it was mesmerizing to watch it do its work. Was it difficult to change it?

02/19/2016 at 06:20

Kinja'd!!!1

I’d opt for the high one as well, in a heartbeat. In white.

That was it’s main objective IIRC. The moment it “sank” a bit when it got in the center: It always intrigued me so much! Could watch that for hours. I suppose it wasn’t that hard to change, the blade that is. It’s a Benz. From an era they were engineered to the max.

02/22/2016 at 01:55

Kinja'd!!!1

Yeah, has to be white. Must go full cocaine with a Testarossa. This blue is surprisingly handsome, though.

Kinja'd!!!

But, it wouldn’t work as well with the high mirrors.

Yeah, that dip was brilliant. It was kind of miraculous the first time I saw one. It would be interesting to try it with the motor at the top of the windshield.

02/22/2016 at 05:07

Kinja'd!!!1

It is. That blue. But. White. Flying mirrors. Lights popped up. Dark streets. Jan Hammer. Or Phil Collins.

Or two wipers with the dip. From the sides!

Kinja'd!!!1

The Testarossa definitely looks best at night. Wet asphalt reflecting pink neon. Hookers with big hair.

Man, I thought that song was the coolest thing I’d ever heard when it came out. It’s still great.

Whoa, from the sides is an insane idea. Would the washer squirt from the sides, too?

No Jacket Required was an album my brother had when I was young. I was totally hooked. Face Value could not even come close. But that one had that one more than epic song representing all Tubbs and Crocket stood for: this one.

I just did a piece on something with a flying mirror as well!

Kinja'd!!!

Just a slutty squirter inside, what more do we need?

02/24/2016 at 02:51

Kinja'd!!!1

Yeah, No Jacket is the Phil Collins album. And that Genesis self-titled record with Mama , but I think we talked about that one before.

That’s a great looking Unimog. With a terrific mirror. Do you need to remove the top to use it?

Hey now. On the velour seats?

Kinja'd!!!1

We did talk Genesis already. Phil was left out in that conversation I’m sure. As was Peter Gabriel. Love his S o . The Milgram experiment in a song. It’s not the happiest person on earth, Peter.

It’s German engineering Herr Eisen! Of course you don’t remove the top. As there is no side window just stick your head out of the cabin. And with the speeds this thing does you don’t need the mirror before overtaking anyway.

I thought we agreed on vinyl !

That Kate Bush duet is really pretty, too, on that record. He’s an interesting character, Mr. Gabriel. Some of his stuff does get pretty dark. He has this song Quiet Steam that I really like. And, I always loved that Games Without Frontiers video. Kate is on that song as well.

You might want to see who or what is overtaking you. I know all about German engineering from that era. The first Fuldamobil had this mirror.

Kinja'd!!!

Well, what about the shag carpeting?

Kinja'd!!!1

My favorite on S o is definitely We do what we’re told . And Kate is awesome all the time of course. Peter’s recent Scratch my Back (covers) and New Blood (own songs with an entire orchestra) are all a bit mellow but I can enjoy them both. Love his interpretation of Street Spirit. Better not listen to it while emotional or tired.

I’d love to have a Microcar in my livingroom, shag carpeting or not!

I haven’t listened to either of those. He’s sort of dropped off the radar. I’ll have to look for them. We Do What We’re Told is a great track. It reminds me of this old B-side of his, Soft Dog . It’s only on the 45 of the German version of Shock the Monkey , Schock Den Affen . Took me a long time to find a copy.

That place is more like a living room in the middle of microcars. It’s where I got my Fuldamobil.

Funny we’re discussing Peter and your favorite songs from him now: I’m viewing The Americans right now. Yesterday I looked at the last episode of season 1 and Games without Frontiers was the song the episode ended with. Actually like the show.

But you’re more into Peter than you were into Genesis?

Kinja'd!!!1

Oh, yeah, I actually remember that. That is a good show. It’s really entertaining. And they do a good job recreating the era. Plenty of malaise iron and their house looks a lot like the house I grew up in.

Yeah, I might say I’m more into Pete than Genesis. But, I’ve been listening to more Genesis lately. But, now you have me missing Peter, so I might have to dig out one of those records.

Yep, it definitely is the Reagan era. Amazing how many cars they use for the series, where do they all get them from??? It just amazed me the FBI was handling the spy-stuff: I would suspect that to be Secret Service-jurisdiction. Or CIA.

Peter is great. Nothing less.

There are a couple places out here that have a fleet of old cars that they rent to movies and t.v. Sometimes they’ll have a Craigslist ad looking for them and they’ll pay you a little. I’ve had a few of my cars in things. My Gremlin was used a few times, and a couple of my Pacers. Never the microcars, though. I guess both the CIA and FBI handled spy stuff. The CIA works internationally, and the FBI handles anything on U.S. soil. That’s how it’s supposed to work, anyway. So, that’s why the FBI guy is there. The Secret Service, I guess, is mostly concerned with anything that threatens the president himself.

Yeah, we’ve got that kind of organization as well . I need to register my 911 and 2002 over there. Maybe the Duc. I would be surprised if none of your cars would have been used. The Le Car needs a role.

All those organizations... I think the first time I ever heard about the SS was in Clint Eastwood’s In the line of Fire .

Kinja'd!!! Jonee > Jobjoris
03/03/2016 at 00:42

Kinja'd!!!1

The Le Car should have a role. It would be useful for when they need to pretend L.A. is France. They used a Le Car as the car in Dude Where’s My Car . And, I almost bought that car once. Some guy was selling it cheap. I don’t think he knew what movie it had been in. Not that that movie is a classic, but it has a certain notoriety.

The Secret Service actually started as an anti-counterfeit organization. Counterfeiting was huge in the 1800's. They started protecting the president after McKinley was assassinated in 1901. Before that, I don’t think the president had any permanent guard. We actually had something of a rash of assassinations after Lincoln.

Haha, amazing movie. They save the world or maybe the entire universe! Sean William Scott always seems to have fun in his movies. Although I do not know many of him besides this one, American Pie and Road Trip . Oh, and the remake of them Duke Boys of course!

Assassinations. Since the killing of Willem van Oranje that has been a while over here. At least: when it comes to our prime ministers or kings/queens.

Kinja'd!!! Jonee > Jobjoris
03/04/2016 at 02:34

Kinja'd!!!1

Seann William Scott is always entertaining. But, that Dukes of Hazzard movie kind of stunk. Good casting, but the film wasted them. There’s one he’s in called Mr. Woodcock that is completely dumb, but makes me laugh for some reason. Billy Bob Thornton is a riot in it.

We’ve been assassination free since Reagan. They used to say there was a curse that every president elected in a year ending in “0" would be assassinated. Reagan, who was elected in 1980, and George W. Bush (2000) both survived their assassination attempts. But, Harrison (1840) and Kennedy (1960) both died. We’ll find out if it holds up for whoever gets elected in 2020. Maybe if Trump gets re-elected, someone will go after him.

Great Casting! I never was a fan of Jessica Simpson (another Simpson!!) but god she was good as Daisy! Mr Woodcock was already on my watchlist. For a longtime already actually. Thanks for reminding. Roadtrip was my favorite thus far from him. That scene with Twisted Sister in the bus totally ROCKED!

Are you seriously thinking Donald will be your next leader?

Yeah, I think Daisy Duke was the part Jessica Simpson was born to play. Kind of like Shelly Duvall when she was Olive Oyl in Popeye . If you liked Road Trip , you’ll definitely get a kick out of Mr. Woodcock . Vintage SWS.
